The imposing Gothic-style mini-mansion opened for business as an exquisite country house a few years ago. It was an immediate – and predictable – success. We say that because your hosts, Jeremy and Carolyn Platt, are a gregarious couple who do things very well. Until recently, Jeremy ran a highly successful wine business. Now the couple are devoting their energy to Ffarm. Although founded in the 18th century, it’s Ffarm’s 19th-century castellated Victorian character that dominates. But within, things are decidedly of our times. The Grade II listed building has received a top-to-toe restoration, in a plush, luxurious style that pays homage to Ffarm’s past while providing all contemporary comforts – you’ll find chandeliers and 21st-century bathrooms, open fires and quality beds, lots of books and an honesty bar. The restaurant is open Thursday to Saturday evenings and for Sunday lunch. Ffarm is in a peaceful village close to coast and country.
